Praise for this book

Wow. That midway twist made me fall off my chair. I don't think I've ever read anything quite like it except maybe Gone Girl and even in that one, you sorta see it coming. Blake had me questioning everything I thought I knew about the main character and the story until that point. When I finished the book, I had to go back to the start and read it all over again. It was a virtuoso performance, the way Blake pulled it off. It's a fast-paced, deep-dive psychological thriller into the minds of a mother and daughter facing a major life threat from a very powerful man and his scary associate. It takes you all around the house and leaves you in pieces. The emotional payoff is big time. It's been a long time since I read a psychological thriller that could actually make me feel so strongly.

It's not without its flaws. I thought the book could do with some editing and proofing but overall it delivered everything I expect in a thriller and then some. Will definitely read more by SJ Blake. Is it true that SJ Blake is actually a pseudonym for a famous romantic suspense novelist? They're definitely no first-timer that's for sure. This is a master's work. Looking forward to more from SJ Blake!
